Reg Garret is the main character of Woven Memories. He is a teenage boy who was born and raised on the Moon. His AI companion is a little program named Silver.

He’s dedicated and good-natured, if a bit weird on account of being raised in an environment away from anyone else his own age. He acts and talks older than he is and focuses primarily on thinking about his own future. He wants to pursue a career in marine biology and has a great interest in all ocean life related things.

After surviving the tragedy that befell Argent when he was seven, he lost his left eye that was replaced with a cybernetic one. Since then he has done nothing but wish he was older so he can move on with his life.

On his fifteenth birthday, he received an odd program from an odd AI named Lowe and much to both of their surprise, it became a small grey creature that Reg named Silver. Also for his birthday, Reg would be receiving a gift from NAXA on Earth in the form of a communication device that would allow for instantaneous transmission across time and space. Once this device was installed, a mysterious program named Vile began attacking Argent, mirroring the tragedy from seven years ago.

During this attack, Reg dies and is reborn as this era’s Megaman. He, along with Lowe, defeat Vile, but as Argent was destroyed in the attack, Reg is required to teleport to Earth. Thus begins his adventures in stopping a new emerging virus threat on Earth in a city called Spacity along with the many people he befriends along the way.

Personality

Reg is hard working and dedicated. For his whole life, work meant survival on Argent and he takes a large amount of pride in his ability to help a situation. He understands the importance of community and was raised with a great deal of love and attention from his parents. This has led him to be more mature than someone his age, albeit weird at times since he lived such a sheltered childhood.

He’s considerate of other people’s feelings and frequently puts them before his own. So much so, that he will neglect his own wants and needs in order to accomplish the goals that others set out for him. He relies on his partner Silver to force him to care about himself on occasion.

Underneath all that joy and thrill for life is a lonely, empty boy that reflects the light around him.

Appearance

Reg is average height for a 15 year old at 5 foot 6 inches. He’s got a bit of a wider than average build. His eyes are blue and his left eye is cybernetic with a very distinct groove around that eye which marks the boundary of biological and artificial skin. He has short black hair that is tied back in a ponytail with a long blue solar panel tie. The hair around his ears curve into two crescent shapes.

He wears a full body undersuit that protects him from ultraviolet radiation from space that he cannot take off due to the events of what happened on Argent. There are little points on the shoulders and hips that project hard light in the event of an emergency.

The outfit he wears everyday is the outfit he’s always worn since he was a child, a large blue t-shirt, big green coveralls, and grey arm wraps that carry a bunch of tools inside them.

As Megaman, he dons blue and purple armor with green accents. His helmet has points on top that some have described as ‘cat-like’. Along his arms he has a pair of tonfa-like weapons that he can use to attack with blunt strikes and fire shots of energy with.

History

After coming to Earth, Reg befriends a girl named Ellen Stream. After fighting a virus together, they become close. After that, he meets a boy named Eniac “Eni” Ijuuin and they fight a humanoid virus together. They, along with their AI companions, form a little team to deal with dangerous viruses around Spacity.

During Halloween Reg runs into a cybernetically enhanced human named Nero Viz who fights him and tries to recruit him to an organization called DART. The next day he runs into a bumbling DART official named Blake Viz, the brother of Nero, and solves his problem for him.

Entering the chatroom

His first interaction with others across dimensions was helping Eni get in contact with Iris.EXE^CR. During this talk, they receive news that Triese Abysa had been kidnapped. Reg joins in with a group of many others across dimensions to mount a counter attack and rescue Triese. In the process Reg encounters a dark version of Triese who crushes his windpipe.

Getting acquainted

The team manages to rescue Triese and everyone goes to the hospital to get checked up. After that, Ellen convinced Meiru Sakurai^FS and Netto Hikari^FS to come along with her to get Reg out of his funk.

Reg then wants to check in on Triese and possibly become friends with Lan^CR so with the help of Eni, he brings everyone to the Penguin Gardens Aquarium in the Woven Memories universe. There he almost doesn’t become friends with Lan^CR after letting slip his expectations of what a ‘Lan’ should be. They then fight some viruses that spawned in one of the tanks.

At the Beach Party, Reg finally sees the beach for the first time, but instead of enjoying the festivities, he’s cornered by a disgruntled Mel who was still recovering from a dark chip incident. Mel beats him up and they are now no longer friends. Reg is then in need of being pulled out of his funk once again and Truffles, an EM being from Phaser Wave, helps him clear his head.

Arcana Viruses invade

The Arcana Viruses begin their invasion into the chatroom and begin to pop up in the BNRP Toys. Reg has to deal with a horrifying nightmare where he is stuck in a dark maze of mirrors made of ice with Dr. Hikari^SF. He makes it out alive, but questions whether what he experienced was real or not.

Joining DART

At this time in canon Woven Memories, the Scylla arc happens which marks the midpoint of the fic and the end of what the author calls “season one” of Woven Memories, and the Toys versions of all the characters catch up to the canon versions. This includes Reg joining DART and helping them defeat viruses around Spacity in a more official capacity.

Reg ends up becoming very stressed from his involvement with DART and runs off to a random instance to collect his thoughts. He ends up accidentally going to the world of CR-S and running into Lan^CR. They fight and then get sweet treats and by the end of their talk, Lan^CR respects him just a bit for taking advantage of DART.

In a surprise, Mel reaches out to Reg and they have a long talk over crawfish at a DART event. They make amends and become friends again.

After that, he invites Triese to a gala that DART is hosting. There they have to deal with obnoxious DART employees and a surprise virus encounter.

Relationships

• Silver: AI companion that was gifted to him for his 15th birthday. He considers them a very good friend who helps ground him in reality. They also help fight many viruses they encounter.
• Ellen Stream: A lively girl and close friend. He greatly appreciates her sunny disposition.
• Cometman.EXE: A reliable ally. He appreciates how straightforward he is.
• Eni Ijuuin: A very good friend who despite being hard to understand, is appreciated for his candor and dedication.
• One.EXE: A very powerful Navi that Reg is very thankful is their ally.
• Nero Viz: A frightening girl who cares about her work at DART deeply. Almost too much.
• Mel: A tough girl who doesn't show her feelings well. She's someone that needs to be treated with a lot of patience.
• Triese Abysa: An energetic and kind girl who shares many of the same interests as he does. He could probably talk to her for hours on end.
• Lan Hikari^CR: An angry girl who wants revenge against a world who did her wrong. Dangerous but with a strong sense of justice. Hopefully that justice continues to be pointed in the right direction.
• Meiru Sakurai^FS: A very kind and strong young woman with a calming presence.
• Netto Hikari^FS: A smart guy who has helped the chatroom immensely with his gadget work. Quite relateably has a cybernetic blue left eye as well.
• Dr. Hikari^SF: A terrifying doctor who has been corrupted by forces outside of his control and is pitiable due to that. He foolishly thinks he can help him.
• Netto Hikari^KQ: A brave, if not foolish young man. Only met briefly during the Triese rescue.

Threads

• 2024-05-16: Dealing with Debugs - Iris^CR talks to Eni, One, and Reg about emotions and gets interrupted by Triese getting kidnapped.
• 2024-05-23: we're always connected! - Netto^KQ leads the charge to rescue Triese from Dr. Regal^KQ's clutches.
• 2024-06-11: Aftermath - Reg checks in with people at the KQ world’s hospital while his windpipe is crushed before he goes home.
• 2024-07-14: if you're in outer space, don't feel out of place! - Reg and Ellen meet Meiru^FS and Netto^FS to pull Reg out of his post rescue funk and they get crepes! Silver becomes visible to everyone thanks to Beat^FS. Yuichiro^FS makes a wrapper program for Cometman
• 2024-08-13: Into the blue - Reg and Eni go to the aquarium with Triese and Lan^CR both to check in on Triese and become friends. Everyone fights some WM viruses in a tank.
• 2024-12-25: Hero's Folly - Reg goes to the beach and gets beat up by Mel after she just recovered from being under the influence of a dark chip.
• 2025-01-15: The Right Way to Wallow - Reg and Truffle chat it out and Reg gets out of his funk. Incomplete and therefore not viewable.
• 2025-03-16: Spiraling Shadows - Reg has a horrible nightmare with Yuichiro^SF where they are stuck in a black mirror maze and are hunted by specters and memories.
• 2025-07-25: The Sin of Obedience - Reg after joining DART gets very stressed and runs away into the CR-S world by accident and runs into Lan^CR and they talk.
• 2025-09-10: Prescribed Burn - Reg and Mel eat crawfish at a crawfish boil hosted by DART and become friends again.
• 2025-11-01: Gilded Future - Reg and Triese go to a gala hosted by DART and Triese meets Nero and Blake and have to wrangle a virus that escaped.
