Triese Abysa
Instance CR-S
Age 13
Pronouns she/her
NetNavi Lurerre.EXE

Triese Abysa is one of the main protagonists in Mega Man Battle Network: Cross Reflection and Mega Man Battle Network: Cross Shadows. A bright teenage girl with a seemingly endless amount of energy and a passion for network technology, Triese is one of LanCR's closest friends and allies. She is the only daughter of Ceto and Shen Abysa, the latter a developer at the tech company Slither Inc..

Personality

Triese shares with her father a love for history and a great respect for what has been lost; the ravaging of the Net by Autuvera has only drawn her to it further, as she mourns the death of a world she never got to live in, and all that disappeared with it. She spends much of her time researching networks, collecting Battle Chips, and caring for her hobby collection of viruses, hoping to one day play a role in bringing the lost Net back. When she ended up in the same class as the surviving daughter of the (in)famous Hikari family, it did not take long for her to be embroiled in her brand of chaos.

Triese is enthusiastic to be around virtually everyone and at times a little overbearing. Her bubbly personality and niche interests have left her something of a social outcast, and she's had a history of being bullied at the hands of Onibi and Yukimaru Hebihara, the twin children of the Slither Inc. CEO. With Lurerre by her side, however, she's coped reasonably well, and is doing better than ever now that she's made friends, even across boundaries of worlds. Triese will infodump about her interests at any moment if given the opportunity, and will devour information like it's candy. She's also quite emotionally perceptive, kind, and empathetic for her age, and is well aware of the darkness rooted in history; she believes strongly in the idea that they've only got one world, and have to make the best with what they have.

Besides the Net, Triese also has a love for the ocean and marine life, with her family being well-off enough to afford a fish tank for her room. She's also particularly fascinated by the other worlds she and her friends have been made aware of; the more bizarre and technologically advanced instances have certainly lit up her love for fantasy and magical girls. Ironically, despite having a deep love for NetBattles and Battle Chips, she isn't all that great or experienced of a NetBattler, mostly out of a lack of practice. While Triese would want nothing more than to suddenly have the idealized old Internet back, you could never convince her that her current Net has nothing of value; she's incredibly idealistic, and would rather her and her friends work toward a better future.

Appearance

Triese is a girl of average physique for her age despite spending a lot of her time online, standing at 4'7.5 (141m). She's a very blue kind of girl, commonly wearing a blue sundress with wavy patterns on the bottom. She has blue eyes, long, wavy, dark blue hair that's only somewhat kept in check by a white headband. Her orange glasses with star-shaped rims are custom-made and immediately recognizable. If Triese is ever wearing anything else, it's probably going to be similarly free-flowing and sparkly. She's also mixed-race Wifitalian-Electopian (Italian-Japanese), with her mother's side of the family from the former.

History

Triese was born to Shen and Ceto Abysa in Den City, Electopia. When Triese was only three years old, her mother passed away from illness, prompting her father to create Lurerre.EXE to look after her. Sensing Triese's burgeoning interest in technology and fearing that she would attract unwanted attention otherwise, Lurerre was built with a system that could disguise her as an empty Navi on the fly. Triese soon inherited her father's passion for history, and struggled to make friends in school due to her supposedly overbearing personality. The endless well of information available to her provided her plenty of solace, however, especially as she found herself a repeated bullying target of Onibi Hebihara and Yukimaru Hebihara.

Shortly before the events of Cross Reflection, Triese was placed in the same seventh-grade class as Lan HikariCR, instantly exciting her. Believing that she could extract some kind of hidden history out of someone so close to the Net's creation, she continually poked and pestered Lan with questions and small talk, only to be rebuked every time.

Destroying Angel incident

[Plot of CR]

Chatroom and Nixtruel incident

Triese was one of the first to find out about the sudden appearance of an interdimensional chatroom across worlds, and she very enthusiastically participated from the night it opened. Exchanging information and joyfully frolicking with equally enthusiastic Net-dwellers like Ellen Stream, she lamented how much her Autuvera-ravaged world 'sucked', but stuck to her beliefs nonetheless, finding their newfound situation awfully familiar. However, it wasn't long before bad actors began to utilize the chatroom; Triese, as innocent and endlessly interested in technology as she was, quickly became a target of Dr. RegalKQ and Yuichiro HikariSF.

After being kidnapped by Laserman.EXEKQ, she was forcibly dosed with Nixtruel by Regal and transferred to a Pulse Transmission chair so as to Synchronize her with SAViOR. In the process, a Dark Soul was created, which made its way to a CopyBot and was briefly given form as Dark Triese. Triese barely survived the experience, and remained in Regal's clutches until LanCR and Lurerre managed to put out a call for help in the chatroom.

RegalKQ, YuichiroSF and Dark Triese fled Triese's holding grounds once they had their fun, and Triese was taken home and treated for her injuries and poisoning. She remained in an unstable, Nixtruel-deprived state for a while longer, and LanCR and Penelope Novella tried their damndest to help her recover before it could interfere with her life any more than it already had. Triese quickly repressed her memories of the event ever happening, and constantly, concerningly would only acknowledge the incident as her "getting sick".

MagnoMetal hunt

For better or for worse, the repression on top of copious medication allowed Triese to bounce back within a reasonable amount of time. Hating the fact that she was bedridden for so long, she began to tour some of the worlds connected by the chatroom to prove to Lurerre that she'd recovered. After NettoKQ and RockmanKQ checked up on her, Triese found a kindred spirit in Reg Garret, bonding over their shared interests in viruses and marine life. When Reg transformed into his Megaman form, Triese absolutely lost her mind, interpreting his power as proof that magical girls were real.
